Dishwasher Glossary

Adjustable Racking Allowing you to have the inside of the dishwasher how you want it, adjustable racking can be moved around inside the appliance to make it more convenient for specific wash loads
Anti Flood Devices This device has an anti leak sensor fitted to the base of the appliance. Should a leak be detected then the dishwasher’s water supply will be cut off within seconds
Auto 3 in 1 Detection This dishwasher feature detects whether you are using a 3 in 1 detergent and then will automatically adjust the temperature during the cycle to make sure the detergent is activated efficiently
Audible End of Programme A noise is emitted at the end of the cycle to alert you that the dishwasher programme has ended

Built in – Integrated This type of dishwasher is placed behind existing cupboard doors and the front of the appliance is not visible. The feel of your kitchen will therefore remain the same.

Child Safety Lock Preventing your children from opening the door and climbing inside the dishwasher, a handy extra feature which should be considered if you have small children
Control Panel Type The type of controls which are displayed on the front of the dishwasher
Cutlery Basket The basket which is placed inside your dishwasher which neatly stores your cutlery while it is being cleaned

dB This shows how noisy the dishwasher will be when it is running. A lower noise level is much better as they are less intrusive to your everyday life
Delay Timer Allowing you to preset a time to start the dishwasher cycle whenever suits you. If you prefer you could even run the dishwasher cycle over night when your electricity will be cheaper
Drawer Dishwasher The dishwasher draws slide out allowing an easy method of loading and unloading the dishwasher
Drying Method The method in which your dishes will be dried inside the dishwasher during a cycle
Drying Performance A rating which is given to a dishwasher based on how well the appliance dries the dishes during a cycle

Energy Efficiency Rating A higher energy rating means that the dishwasher will be better for the environment and save you money on your energy bills. An A rated dishwasher is the best rating currently for a dishwasher model
Energy Rating A rating between A – G awarded to an appliance to display how efficient the dishwasher is. The highest rating a dishwasher has is A, this model will save money off your energy bills compared to a less energy efficient model

Freestanding The front of the model is visible and a freestanding dishwasher can be placed anywhere in the kitchen, underneath a work surface or on its own

Glass Care / Delicate Programme A cycle designed for expensive and more precious crockery. This is ideal for when you need a cycle to take that extra bit of care with your dirty items. This programme is also ideal for taking care of your glasses and other delicate tableware

Half Load / Zone Wash Option Allowing you to only wash a load in half of the dishwasher, great when you don’t have a lot of dirty dishes, saving you time, money and energy
Half Load Function This feature adjusts the amount of water used for a smaller load saving time and energy

Noise Level This shows how loud the dishwasher will be during the cycle, a lower noise level will be less disturbing in the day to day running of your home
Number of Place Settings This gives you guidance to how much room is inside your dishwasher and how many items you will be able to wash in there in a single cycle. One place setting consists of a side plate, a large plate, a cup, a saucer and cutlery

Pre Soak This feature is an extra programme to run before a full dishwasher cycle to help to remove burnt on stains and grease

Quick Wash A great wash programme for those with less time to spare. A quick wash programme can be economical while quickly washing your dishes with brilliant results

Slimline Dishwasher If you do not have as much room for a dishwasher choose a slimline model, they take up less space but perform the same as a standard size model
Standard Dishwasher A great wash programme for those with less time to spare. A quick wash programme can be economical while quickly washing your dishes with brilliant results

Table Top Dishwasher These models fit on top of your existing work surfaces, small and efficient and great if you don’t have a lot of space
Time to End Cycle A feature which shows you how long is left until the end of the cycle, so you can plan other activities around the dishwashing cycle
